FORWARD WITH FAITH:

As you may have heard, a major campaign being led by the Hartford Bishops’ Foundation is currently underway at Sacred Heart Church and throughout the Archdiocese of Hartford. Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing answers to some good and important questions that we have been hearing from our parishioners:

How do I know that my gift to this campaign will go to the components outlined in the Forward with Faith Campaign case statement?

The Hartford Bishops’ Foundation Board of Directors have gone to great lengths to ensure that the funds raised will be used exclusively for the components outlined in the campaign case statement. Grant making portfolios are being established for each of the case components. The Finance Committee and Investment Committee of the Board are responsible for the appropriate management, stewardship, and distribution of campaign funds. A yearly audit by the independent auditing firm, KPMG, will be conducted, and the Hartford Bishops Foundation will report annually on funds received and disbursed.

Everyone in the Sacred Heart Community is invited to participate in the Forward with Faith Campaign. It is our hope that our entire community will join together and support this blessed effort for our Archdiocese and our parish. As we continue our efforts, we ask all of you to pray for our success and participate at a level your means allow, for the future of our Church.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION:

Sunday religious education classes begin in October at 9:00 am for grades pre-school through 8th grade.

Youth groups meet Sunday evenings for 6th to 8th graders and a high school group for grades 9 through 12.

Confirmation class is for 9th grade and up. For more information contact:

CHOIR MEMBERS WANTED:

Sacred Heart Church choir is recruiting volunteer singers to raise their voices in praise and worship to God. Everyone with a song in their heart is eagerly invited to join us for light-hearted fun during rehearsals and at church functions (we love trivia!), as well as in joyful and reverent singing on Sundays. Please contact Mary in the office, or see our Director of Music, Rian, after mass to sign up. Remember – those who sing pray twice!

HEARING ASSISTANCE DEVICE:

Many parishioners have asked for a device that would help them hear better at Mass. We have heard your request and we have purchased a system and 4 units. In order to determine if more units are needed we invite you to try the system and let us know whether it is something you would like to take advantage of each Mass. If you would like to try a unit, please ask a Hospitality Minister when entering the church. There are two units located at the main entrance and two units located at the Fr. Picher Hall entrance. Please pick one up and return it to the baskets at the two exits when leaving. So far, the response has been very positive.

BREAKFAST MINISTRY:

Beginning with the first Sunday in October and continuing every first Sunday through April we will have our FREE pancake, sausage and pastry buffet after the 8:00 am and 10:15 am masses. If you would like to help, please contact David Royce at david.royce@comcast.net. Another way to help is to sponsor one of the buffets. The cost is $150.00 per month. PRAYER REQUESTS: 

We have two locations for you to place your prayer requests. There is a book in which to list those people, both living and deceased whom you would like to have remembered in all Masses offered here at Sacred Heart. This book is kept in the back of the Church on weekends. During the week, it is kept outside of the Chapel. The Rosary Prayer Group has a basket for your prayer requests also. These requests can be for anyone and/or anything in need of prayer. It can also include prayers of thanks and praise. On Tuesday nights at 6:30, the Rosary Group prays for these requests. The basket is kept in the back of the Church outside of the Reconciliation Room.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTER CROSSES:

If you have been a Minister of the Holy Eucharist and are no longer serving. Please consider donating your crosses to our parish. They are no longer given out to ministers and instead are kept here in the sacristy to be used when needed. If you have a cross and would like to donate it, please call the parish office.
